Erin Casey: Head Counselor Mountain Reach
Erin Casey is spending her third summer at Camp Thorpe this year! She graduated in 2016 from Neumann University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and has spent the last two years working with adolescents in a Behavioral Stabilization facility in New Jersey.
Erin loves spending time outdoors, hiking, camping and anything related to nature! Erin says, “Camp has always been the place I feel I feel I can truly be myself. Camp is my second home and can not wait to spend another summer there!”
Micaela Gillam: Head Counselor Pine Haven
Micaela is a sophomore at Ball State University and is returning for her second year at Camp Thorpe. She is studying social work in the hope of someday becoming a school social worker.
When not spending all her time at camp she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Her favorite things about Camp Thorpe are porch songs, Christmas night, and Olympics night!
Jess Houck, Evening Program Director and Behavioral Specialist
Jess Houck lives in Vermont and is currently working at Proctor Elementary School as a special educator. She is also in school with the hope of becoming a behavior analyst. This will be her 7th year at Camp Thorpe. When not at work, Jess enjoys reading, hiking, and adventuring with friends. She can’t wait to dance and sing her heart out at Camp this summer. She looks forward to seeing all of the familiar faces of camp and getting to know those who are new!
Alicia McDermott: Counselor
Alicia McDermott is from the West Midlands, in England. She is currently studying Psychology at the University of Chester. Alicia is hoping to pursue teaching and then Educational Psychology as a career. This will be her first year as a counselor at Camp Thorpe, which is super exciting!
When not at University, Alicia loves to dance, read, and spend time chatting with her friends, and she is especially excited to visit the US/Vermont to explore a new place and meet some great new people!
Cameron Ferry: Counselor
Cami Ferry is a current student at Northern Vermont University. She is studying for her Bachelor if Fine Arts in Graphic Design. This is her first year at the camp and couldn’t be more excited for this summer! She has a deep passion for art like drawing and nature photography. She loves spending time with her friends especially going on road trips and hikes.
Charlotte Howting: Counselor
Charlotte Howting lives on the south coast of the United Kingdom near a small city named Bournemouth! She currently works as a nurse which is her dream job! This will be her first year as a counselor at Camp Thorpe. When she is not working as a nurse she is usually seeing friends or walking her dog along the beach!
Charlotte is very excited to come to Camp Thorpe this year and especially excited about meeting everyone and having the best summer at camp!
Charlotte Winslow: Counselor
Charlotte grew up in small town Vermont selling pumpkins and Christmas trees on her family’s crop farm. She is currently studying Psychology and Human Services at Northern Vermont University- Lyndon. Charlotte loves anything that has to do with the outdoors and loves playing all sports, but her favorite sport is softball!
In her free time, Charlotte likes to listen to all kinds of music and sing. She is very excited to be able to sing with all of the campers and staff this summer!
Danielle Cheshire: General Counselor
Danielle is from Luton/England and I am currently in my final year at Luton Sixth Form College. She studies 3 A-Levels that consist of Drama and Theatre studies, Sociology and English Literature/Language. She has previously worked in a residential home where she cared for the elderly residents.
Danielle has a passion for photography which she pursues in her free time. She enjoys getting to know new people, making new friends, listening to music and simply just having fun! Danielle says, “Making people smile, doing a good deed for someone, knowing that people are enjoying themselves and making a positive impact on someone is such a good feeling.”
This is Danielle’s first time visiting America and she says she is very excited to be spending her summer working for Camp Thorpe!
Emma Jensen: Counselor
Emma Jensen is from Glasgow, Scotland in the UK. In 2016 she qualified as a nursery teacher, which she wanted to be from a young age as she really enjoy working and caring for children of all age ranges.
Emma also loves to travel, and recently returned to Scotland from living in Australia and New Zealand for a year and a half. When not travelling she spends lots of time with my friends and family. She also like to play badminton and go to the gym.
Fraser Stewart: Counselor/Lifeguard
This will be Fraser’s second year at camp after spending six weeks last years as a general counselor and carrying out duties as a lifeguard. He is a British counselor who lives in a small town called Carluke in Scotland. Currently studying international sports management at Glasgow Caledonian University, His love for sport will play a big part in his role at camp this year.

Grace Cahill: Counselor / Nature Program Director
Grace Cahill is a student at Ohio University, where she studies English and environmental science. After graduation, she hopes to travel around the world or volunteer for Teach for America. She plans to become an English or ESL teacher, and dreams of inspiring her future students to love language, writing, and literature as much as she does!
In her free time, Grace enjoys reading, drawing, gardening, hiking, and camping with her family. This is her first year at Camp Thorpe and she is so excited to have a new experience and meet wonderful friends!
Hannah Malcolm: Counselor
Hannah Malcolm is from Edinburgh and she is currently studying Psychology with Business Management at Heriot Watt University. Hannah is hoping to pursue a career as a primary school teacher.
This will be her first year as a counselor at Camp Thorpe and she is extremely excited at the prospect of meetings lots of new people and making new friends. When Hannah’s not studying in University, she loves working on routines with Heriot Watt Cheerleading society, practicing her makeup and shopping with her family and friends. Hannah is especially excited to visit Vermont as her goal by the time she is 40 is to have traveled to every different state in America.
Hannah Morse: Counselor
Hannah is currently a college student currently living in Tucson, Arizona. She is excited to pay a visit to Vermont again and meet many new people at camp. In her free time, Hannah enjoys illustration, writing, and travel. She also loves animals ans spends time volunteering at her local Humane Society.
This is her first year as a camp counselor at Camp Thorpe, and she hopes that her talents and interests will bring a lot of fun to the table!
Holly Floyd: Counselor
Holly Floyd is from Somerset in England and she is currently studying Health and Social Care at Richard Huish College and in September will be Starting University studying Primary Education. Holly is hoping to pursue teaching as a career. This will be her first year as a counselor at Camp Thorpe.
When not at college, Holly loves to spend time with her family and friends and go on day trips, especially to the beach in the summer and she is especially excited to visit the US/Vermont to experience new culture and meet new people, but most importantly to have the best time at Camp.
Jonathan Wing: General Counselor/Nature Program Director
Jonathan Wing is a junior at Boston College studying psychology. He is from a small farm town in Ellington, Connecticut. This will be his first year as a counselor at Camp Thorpe!
When not busy studying for class, Jonathan sings with the choir at Boston College, goes for runs around Boston, and spends time with his friends.
Kalie Peets: Counselor / Lifeguard
Kalie Peets is from Massena, NY and this will be her first year at Camp Thorpe. She attends SUNY Plattsburgh for nursing, where she will soon be a senior. When not busy at school, Kalie enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outside and embracing new adventures. She is really looking forward to the summer, where she hopes to meet lots of new people and experience all that is offered at Camp Thorpe!
Kristy Barrett: Counselor
Kristy Barrett is from a small town in Wales in the UK, and this will be her first year as a camp counselor at Camp Thorpe. Kristy currently works in retail part time, and hopes to progress into a career in teaching. She has person experience working with a family friend with Autism.
Kristy says she couldn’t be more excited to arrive in the USA to learn new things and meet new people. In her spare time she loves to spend time with family and friends, socialize and bake. She is excited for a new adventure!
Laura Hanson, General Counselor
Laura is 20 years old and in her second year of studying psychology at Bath University. When she’s not studying she enjoys dance and cheerleading training, reading and relaxing with friends. This is her first time working at the camp, so she says she is “very excited to meet new people, experience camp life and make the most of all the activities.”
Maggie White: Lifeguard/Counselor
Maggie White is from Greenfield Massachusetts and is currently attending American International College in Springfield Massachusetts for a bachelors/masters in occupational therapy.
When Maggie is not in school she enjoys traveling, hiking, rock climbing, playing guitar, singing, listening to music and working at her local rock climbing gym. Maggie is looking forward to getting to know new people and make new friends. She is very excited for her first summer at Camp Thorpe!
Molly Gobey, General Counselor
Molly Gobey is an 18 year old student finishing up her health and social care course at college in Halifax, UK. She was brought up in Lancashire/West Yorkshire and she has experience with working with people with learning disabilities through family friends and placements through college.
She will be taking a gap year from education to do Camp America and go travelling to different places and back to Sri Lanka, before she goes to school to be a learning disabilities nurse, which she is so excited for!
This will be her first summer at Camp Thorpe and she is really looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone and having an amazing time!
Olivia Marshall, General Counselor
Olivia Marshall is 18 years old and Is from a small town in England called Stourbridge which is close to Birmingham.
She went to King Edwards VI College and I studied Biology, Sociology,Psychology and Georgaphy. Olivia is an avid traveler and She is currently in Tanzania, Africa. She has been there for three months doing a voluntary project on Sustainable Businesses. One day she hopes to be a store manager of a large retail store!
Olivia says, “I can’t wait to join Camp Thorpe in June and I am looking forward to meeting many new people!”
Paul Nash: Counselor
Paul Nash is from Gloucester in the UK where he currently is a student at SGS College studying Computing. When he’s not at school, Paul is active at a local theatre group for disabled people, he hikes with friends and his family and dog, and he sings and plays guitar.

Tony is from Luton in England, and he is currently a 3rd year student at Loughborough University where he is studying chemistry. When he’s not in school or working, Tony loves to play sports, go to the gym, travel, hike, and spend time with his friends and family. He’s excited to come to the US to meet new people and to have a great summer.
