Contribute to a Lifetime of Happy Memories for Someone Special
If you share our desire to provide children and adults with special needs with a positive healthy camping experience amid the Green Mountains, where singing and laughter abound, then we invite you to join us. It could be your time and energy and yes, your financial contribution-Camp Thorpe is a 501(c)3 so your contributions may be tax-deductible.
A Vermont (and New England) Tradition for 90 Years
For 90 years, support from concerned people like you has allowed Camp Thorpe to provide camping experiences to children and adults from Vermont and across New England who have special needs. Many families continue to need this support. Camp Thorpe relies solely on contributions to cover tuition and operating costs related to providing summer fun for children and adults.
Over the past several years, the Camp Thorpe Board of Trustees has dedicated itself to renovation projects that help make our facility more attractive and accessible to our campers. As a result of these efforts and support from people like you, our campers are becoming increasingly able to support themselves independently while they’re with us. Important projects like these continue into the coming year and therefore your generosity will continue to play a major role.
Uniquely Serving the Special Needs Population
Camp Thorpe serves people of all ages who have Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism, spina bifida, epilepsy and fetal alcohol syndrome to name but a few. Your donation directly helps provide these kids with a positive, unique experience that they will rarely find elsewhere.
Camp Thorpe gives our special campers a chance to succeed through activities including swimming, boating, theater, nature study, music, art, and sports. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of each camper. Particular emphasis is placed upon skill development, socialization, exercise, and emotional growth. During the summer of 2015, more than 240 children and adults with special needs attended Camp Thorpe.
